The Brussels sp.a reaches out to non-Belgian voters

redesigning%20town.JPGMy party, the sp.a in Brussels, has published a magazine in English language introducing our priorities, our candidates and our projects for the region. As the party's candidate in Vorst/Forest, my task is to make sure these priorities also find their way to the local level in my commune!

Sp.a are the Flemish Socialists and Social Democrats, present in government in the Brussels region, Flanders and the Federal Government.

We hope this booklet – our special English language edition of our Brussels party magazine ‘spots’ – will give you a first insight into what the sp.a and its candidates in Brussels stand for.

I am currently distributing it around the commune, but you can also contact me directly if you wish to receive a hard copy.

Proud to be your sp.a-candidate in Vorst...

As the first-ranked of the sp.a-candidates in my commune, I am placed 7th on the list of our party's francophone counterpart, the PS (parti socialiste). The list is headed by former maire of Vorst/Forest and former Minister for Social Affairs Magda De Galan.

A 27-year old native of Brussels, I became active in Brussels politics when I joined the Brussels sp.a youth movement ‘animo’ - a progressive movement for our region. Animo takes pride in our actions around energy, fair housing, a clean city - the pictures section of this website should give you a first impression of the things we have been up to in the past months!

Between growing up here and becoming active in Brussels politics, I was away for quite a while - I studied sociology in Berlin and in Philadelphia. I returned to Brussels to complete a stage at the European Commission. I currently work as a European Public Affairs consultant.

I was raised in Dutch and German and speak decent French, English and Danish but rather lousy Italian.

My local priorities in Vorst/Forest

In a nutshell:

I strive for a commune that works actively on a mobility policy (with a special focus on bicycle friendly streets and a sound parking policy for its inhabitants), culture (making this commune a future temple of culture for the region, seizing notably the opportunities presented by the forthcoming arts centre Wiels), housing (fighting abandonment and buildings and seizing the opportunities available for housing at fair prices), environment (increasing maintenance of the potentially fabulous parcs in our commune), governance (commune services efficiently and easily accessible to all) and education (a sound education for the little Vorstenaars with early introduction to the other national languages).

If you want to hear more about these priorities, feel free to drop me an e-mail: Dit e-mail adres is beschermd door spambots, u heeft Javascript nodig om dit onderdeel te kunnen bekijken
